HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Seton Hill initially opened a 9-4 lead, before Gannon roared back with 14 consecutive points after a time-out. Senior Matthew Dogan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) hit three triples during the run, including the first field goal and last two of the blitz. His third long-range bomb during the opening 6:26 gave the Golden Knights an 18-9 lead.
  • Gannon's advantage later reached double digits after eight straight points gave the visitors a 28-14 advantage at the 3:29 mark. The run came during a Seton Hill scoring drought that lasted seven minutes and 25 seconds. The Golden Knights held the Griffins to 0-of-11 shooting with three turnovers during that time span.
  • The visitors ended the half with a three-pointer by freshman Jimmy Berger (Medina, Ohio/Saint Ignatius) and jumper from sophomore Ian Gardener (Norwalk, Conn./St. Thomas More) to assume a 36-19 halftime advantage.
  • The second half was a complete turnaround from the start. Seton Hill scored the first 11 points and needed only two minutes and 39 seconds to cut the deficit to 36-30.
  • Gannon didn't score its first points of the second half until a pair of free throws by junior Zay Jackson (Queens, N.Y./Westside) 3:01 after the break. The Golden Knights' first field goal came on a lay-up by Dogan 3:22 into the second half.
  • Despite the opening Seton Hill run, Gannon fended off the Griffins with a mini 6-1 streak to push its lead back into double digits.
  • The Golden Knights' lead stood at 52-47 following two free throws from sophomore Joe Fustine (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) with 7:53 remaining.
  • Seton Hill countered with an 11-2 blitz to regain the lead at 58-54 with 5:17 to play.
  • Back-to-back Dogan lay-ups created the third tie of the game, but Nathan Davis followed with back-to-back three-pointers that proved to be too much.
  • A lay-up by Fernando Salsamendi followed to put Seton Hill up 66-58 and Gannon never got closer than three points the rest of the way.

GAME NOTES
  • Four of Gannon's five starters reached double digits in scoring.
  • Dogan produced a team-high 19 points and three rebounds.
  • Miraud recorded his second consecutive double-double and fourth of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Berger nearly missed a double-double with 11 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
  • Jackson rounded out the double-digit scorers with 13 points and five rebounds.
  • Gannon shot 36.4 percent (24-66) from the field, including a 27-percent (10-37) clip during the second half. The Golden Knights shot 38.9 percent (7-18) from three-point range and 76.9 percent (10-13) from the free throw line.
  • Nathan Davis headlined the Seton Hill scoring attack a double-double, producing a game-high 28 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Noah Davis was the only other Griffin in double digits with 23 points and five rebounds.
  • Seton Hill shot 42.1 percent (24-57) from the floor. It was a tale of two halves as the Griffins shot only 24.1 percent (7-29) during the first half, but 60.7 percent (17-28) during the second half. Seton Hill shot 44.4 percent (8-18) from behind the arc and 62.5 percent (15-24) from the charity stripe.
  • Gannon out-rebounded Seton Hill 45-36, including a 17-9 edge on the offensive glass that led to a 13-0 difference in second-chance points.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon's lead over third-place Pitt-Johnstown in the PSAC Western Division shrunk to three games with five regular-season contests remaining. The second-place position is important as a first-round bye and PSAC quarterfinal home game come with it.
  • Jackson has reached double digits in scoring during 20 straight games while Dogan has done so in 18 consecutive contests.
  • In contrast to its five victories when trailing at halftime this season, Gannon has lost three contests when leading at halftime.
  • The Golden Knights dropped to 1-6 when failing to score at least 70 points while holding a 13-1 mark when reaching the 70-point plateau.
  • Seton Hill's 11 blocks were the most by a Gannon opponent since Daemen had 13 at the Hammermill Center on December 17, 2005.

UP NEXT
  • Gannon continues a three-game road swing Wednesday, February 8 at California (Pa.).
  • Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
  • The contest can be heard live on Jet Radio 1400 and via the 90.5 WERG online stream at www.wergfm.com.
  • Gannon will be looking for its first season sweep of Cal since the 2012-13 campaign after posting a 93-88 overtime victory against the Vulcans at the Hammermill Center on January 3.
  • The Golden Knights have won two consecutive games against Cal to assume a 16-13 edge in the all-time series.
  • Gannon is 3-9 all-time on the Vulcans' home floor where the two programs have split the last four encounters.
