SATURDAY STORYLINES
  • Gannon concludes the 2017 campaign Saturday afternoon at Millersville. The Golden Knights have won four of their last five regular-season finales, including a 31-14 victory against the Marauders last year at McConnell Family Stadium.
  • Marc Jones (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) leads all divisions of the NCAA in rushing yards per game (198.2) and rushing yards (1,982). The junior tailback also tops NCAA Division II in rushing touchdowns (27), rushing yards per carry (8.54), total touchdowns (29) and points per game (17.4).
  • Jones will record the seventh 2,000-yard season in PSAC history with 18 yards. He needs 279 yards to break the PSAC single-season rushing record set Bloomsburg's Jamar Brittingham (2,260) in 2005.
  • Jones recorded his ninth 100-yard rushing performance in 10 games last Saturday against Clarion. He reached the 180-yard plateau for the fifth time.
  • Gannon has scored at least 22 points nine times in 10 games.
  • Redshirt freshman Jason Dambach (Fombell, Pa./Riverside) was making his second career appearance during the second half, but recorded his first career pass attempt and completion.
  • Redshirt sophomore Andrew Berger (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) set a career-high in tackles (13) for the second consecutive week while also setting a career-high in solo tackles (8).
  • Gannon's 94 passing yards were its fewest in a victory since having 31 passing yards during a 31-9 win against Southern Connecticut State during the 2016 season opener at McConnell Family Stadium.
  • Redshirt sophomore Nico Law (Monroeville, Pa./Ringgold)'s punt return for a touchdown was the first of his career and first by a Golden Knight not on a blocked punt since Jesstin Hamm had a 71-yard punt return for a touchdown against Slippery Rock on October 3, 2015 at McConnell Family Stadium.
  • Redshirt sophomore Noah Harris-Lyles (Atlantic City, N.J./Atlantic City) set a new career-high in tackles (10), surpassing his previous mark by four.
  • Redshirt junior Martell Davis (Columbus, Ohio/Licking Heights) and redshirt senior Max Onyenwe (Bowie, Md./St. John's College) broke their career-highs in tackles for a loss.
  • Jones had at least four rushing touchdowns in a game for the third time this season.
  • Gannon captured two of the PSAC's three weekly awards on Monday. Harris-Lyles was named PSAC Defensive Player of the Week while Law was selected PSAC Special Teams Player of the Week for their performances against Clarion.
  • Millersville was picked to finish seventh in the PSAC Eastern Division according to the league's preseason coaches poll.
  • Gannon was predicted to finish fifth in the PSAC West in that same poll.
  • Holland became Gannon's all-time scoring leader against Edinboro on October 7, moving past previous record holder Jon Richardson (2006-09). Holland ranks No. 1 with 246 career points. He converted 52 consecutive extra points from October 24, 2015-September 2, 2017.
  • Zach Phillips (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park) (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park) sits seventh all-time at Gannon with 2,405 career passing yards. The redshirt junior can move past Matt Butler (2004-06) and into sixth place with 399 yards. His 1,724 passing yards in 2016 represented the eighth-highest single-season total in program history.
  • Holland ranks second all-time at Gannon in career field goals (29) through 42 career games. He needs four field goals to tie the program record of 33 set by Jeremy Ditzler (2007-10). Holland's 84.6 field goal percentage (11-13) as a freshman in 2014 represents the best single-season mark in school history. He also holds the school record for PATs with 159.
  • Jones has already broken Gannon's single-season records for rushing yards (1,982), all-purpose yards (2,270), points (174), rushing touchdowns (27) and total touchdowns (29). He is on pace to shatter Jason Cunningham's single-season record for rushing yards per carry (6.6) set in 2001.
  • Junior Jarod Morrison (Hamilton, Ohio/Hamilton) enters Saturday's contest with a 40.8 punting average on 76 career punts. It currently ranks first all-time in program history ahead of Adam Schaffer's 39.4 average on 122 career punts from 2011-13.
  • Jones has generated 455 rushing yards more than the next best NCAA Division II player and 148 more yards than the closest student-athlete at any level of the NCAA. The NCAA Division I rushing leader Rashaad Penny of San Diego State enters the week 380 yards behind.
  • Gannon has recorded three winning seasons during the last four years with a 6-5 mark in 2015, 9-2 record in 2013 and 6-5 mark in 2013. The program's streak of three straight winning seasons represented its longest since producing a program-record four consecutive winning seasons from 1992-95. Gannon has recorded 13 winning campaigns in school history, including a stretch of five in six seasons from 1990-95.
