ERIE, Pa. - Gannon Volleyball collected a 3-1 victory over the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Southeast Division-leading West Chester Golden Rams on Friday (Nov. 3) night. The Lady Knights took the match, 25-18, 17-25, 26-24, 25-18. Gannon leads the Northwest Division with a 22-5 record, 11-3 in the PSAC.
Kelsey Ansec (Solon, Ohio/Solon) led the Lady Knights with 17 kills. She continues her streak of being Gannon's top killer with double-digit kills in the last eight matches. Ansec owns 273 kills on the season and is the latest member of Gannon's 1,000-kill club with 1,039.
Sara Crandall (Cattaraugus, N.Y./Cattaraugus-Little Valley) produced her second 30-dig match of the season and did so in back-to-back fashion. Crandall had a season-high 33 digs against East Stroudsburg on Saturday, Oct. 28, followed by 30 at West Chester Friday night. Crandall owns the 10
th-most digs among PSAC players at 4.75 digs per set.
Ally Smith (Penfield, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) put together her eighth double-double of the Lady Knights 2017 campaign. Smith collected 14 kills and 15 digs. It's her first double-double since Oct. 7 against Clarion.
Ashley Beyers (Lanark, Ill./Eastland) topped GU with a season-high 38 assists. She also registered season-highs in points (8), kills (5) and blocks (2).
The Golden Rams dropped to 20-7 on the season, 9-6 in the PSAC.
The Lady Knights can clinch the PSAC Northwest Division with a victory at Cheyney or an Edinboro loss at East Stroudsburg on Saturday. A victory would also clinch a spot in the 2017 PSAC tournament. Gannon and Cheyney will get underway at 11 a.m. The Lady Knights are 9-0 all-time against the Lady Wolves.
