SATURDAY STORYLINES
  • Gannon attempts to snap a mini two-game losing streak after back-to-back setbacks against California (Pa.) (38-35) and Indiana (Pa.) (42-26).
  • Saturday afternoon represents Gannon's final regular-season home game. Holland, Klemensic, Long, Mansell, Onyenwe, Palka, Peirson and Reznor will be honored as part of Senior Day festivities beginning at 11:40 a.m.
  • Marc Jones (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) leads all divisions of the NCAA in rushing yards per game (200.2), rushing yards (1,802) and total touchdowns (25). The junior tailback also tops NCAA Division II in rushing touchdowns (23), rushing yards per carry (8.97) and points per game (16.7). NCAA Division II single-season records within Jones' sight are rushing yards per game (220.0) and per carry (9.0).
  • Gannon's 26 points last Saturday were the most scored against IUP this season.
  • However, Jones' streak of consecutive 100-yard rushing games ended at eight. He was the first Gannon player in program history to open a season with eight consecutive 100-yard games.
  • The Golden Knights scored at least 22 points for the eighth time in nine games.
  • Redshirt freshman Jimmy Keefe (Middleburg Heights, Ohio/St. Edward) set career-highs in pass completions (22) and pass attempts (38).
  • Gannon's 51 solo tackles were its most since having 53 at Ashland on November 10, 2007.
  • An opponent out-rushed the Golden Knights for the first time since October 29, 2016.
  • Mansell generated a season-high 150 kickoff return yards, falling one shy of his career-high.
  • Redshirt junior Martell Davis (Columbus, Ohio/Licking Heights) tied his career-high in tackles (11) for the second time this season, matching his effort at Bloomsburg on September 16.
  • Junior Anthony Howard (Temple Hills, Md./Bishop O'Connell) reached double digits in tackles for the fifth time this year with 11.
  • Freshman Tre McNeill (Philadelphia, Pa./La Salle College) entered week seven with five career stops, before having 22 during the last three contests. His 10 stops at IUP represented a career-high.
  • Redshirt sophomore Andrew Berger (Altoona, Pa./Bishop Guilfoyle) tied his career-high in tackles (9), equaling his total against Slippery Rock on September 23..
  • Gannon captured three of the Eastern College Athletic Conference's four weekly awards. Howard (Defensive Player of the Week), Mansell (Special Teams Player of the Week) and McNeill (Rookie of the Week) were honored for their performances at IUP.
  • Clarion was picked to finish seventh in the PSAC Western Division according to the league's preseason coaches poll.
  • Gannon was predicted to finish fifth in that same poll.
  • Holland became Gannon's all-time scoring leader against Edinboro on October 7, moving past previous record holder Jon Richardson (2006-09). Holland ranks No. 1 with 238 career points. He converted 52 consecutive extra points from October 24, 2015-September 2, 2017.
  • Zach Phillips (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park) sits seventh all-time at Gannon with 2,405 career passing yards. The redshirt junior can move past Matt Butler (2004-06) and into sixth place with 399 yards. His 1,724 passing yards in 2016 represented the eighth-highest single-season total in program history.
  • Holland ranks second all-time at Gannon in career field goals (28) through 41 career games. He needs five field goals to tie the program record of 33 set by Jeremy Ditzler (2007-10). Holland's 84.6 field goal percentage (11-13) as a freshman in 2014 represents the best single-season mark in school history. He also holds the school record for PATs with 154.
  • Jones has already broken Gannon's single-season records for rushing yards (1,802), all-purpose yards (2,078), points (150), rushing touchdowns (23) and total touchdowns (25). He is on pace to shatter Jason Cunningham's single-season record for rushing yards per carry (6.6) set in 2001.
  • Junior Jarod Morrison (Hamilton, Ohio/Hamilton) enters Saturday's contest with a 40.8 punting average on 73 career punts. It currently ranks first all-time in program history ahead of Adam Schaffer's 39.4 average on 122 career punts from 2011-13.
  • Jones has generated 365 rushing yards more than the next best NCAA Division II player and 220 more yards than the closest student-athlete at any level of the NCAA. The NCAA Division I rushing leader Bryce Love of Stanford enters the week 415 yards behind Jones.
  • Gannon has recorded three winning seasons during the last four years with a 6-5 mark in 2015, 9-2 record in 2013 and 6-5 mark in 2013. The program's streak of three straight winning seasons represented its longest since producing a program-record four consecutive winning seasons from 1992-95.
