  • The Short Story – Gannon Men's Soccer shutout its fourth opponent this season with a 1-0 victory over the East Stroudsburg Warriors on Sunday afternoon. Eduardo de Bonis Encinoso (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain/Escuelas Pias Tenerife) scored the only goal of the match in the 20th minute off a Joshua Ott (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) pass.

GAMEDAY CENTRAL
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the 20th minute, Joshua Ott (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) booted a ball up field where Eduardo de Bonis Encinoso (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain/Escuelas Pias Tenerife) was crashing toward the net. The long 40-yard pass met de Bonis Encinoso's head where he redirected it into the net. It was de Bonis Encinoso's third goal of the season.
  • Gannon went to halftime up 1-0, outshooting the Warriors, 5-4.
  • The Warriors had several second half looks that had a chance at finding net if it wasn't for the great save efforts of Jorge Hernandez (Atvidaberg, Sweden/Bildningscentrum Facetten) and the Gannon defense. Hernandez made five saves in the contest.
  • East Stroudsburg had one last shot in the final 30 seconds of play as Laredo-Fernandez headed a shot that went just left of the goal.
 
GAME NOTES
  • East Stroudsburg outshot Gannon, 11-10, in the match.
  • Mathias Krigbaum (Greve, Denmark/Greve Gymnasium) led Gannon with two shots, both on goal.
  • Hernandez registered the goalie victory, collecting five saves. He extended his record to 7-3-1.
  • Eight carding offenses were made in the game. Gannon received three yellow cards while East Stroudsburg was issued four yellow cards and a red card.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon's last stretch of eight unbeaten matches occurred in the 2012 season. The Golden Knights began the 2012 campaign winning its first nine matches before finishing 13-6.
  • The Golden Knights moved to 6-0-1 in the conference, the best start though seven matches since joining the conference in 2008.
