  • The Short Story: The No. 22 Gannon women's soccer team stretched its undefeated streak to seven games as it claimed a 1-0 shutout of Seton Hill Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Emily Cekella (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley) tallied her third game-winning goal of the season as she led the Lady Knights to its seventh shutout of the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Neither team could find the back of the net in the first half; however, the Griffins slightly controlled the tempo as they held a 6-2 advantage in shots and a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Just 3:11 into the second half, Cekella took a deep pass from junior Nicole Felice (Cleveland, Ohio/Laurel School) and scored from 15-yards out on the right side.
  • The tables turned for Gannon in the second half of the game, as the hosts posted a 13-3 shot advantage and a 3-0 corner kick advantage.

GAME NOTES
  • Gannon wrapped up the game with a 15-9 advantage in shots.
  • Corner kicks were even across the board, 3-3.
  • Seton Hill committed more fouls than Gannon, 9-4.
  • Senior goalie Danitza Indacochea (Vaughan, Ontario/St. Joan of Arc) finished the game with five saves in her eighth win of the season.  
  • Seton Hill goalkeeper Jessica Neill made seven saves and allowed her ninth goal of the season.
  • Redshirt senior Sarah Kaiser (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) and freshman Hannah Hays (Butler, Pa./Butler) both put two shots on goal apiece.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon is ranked No. 22 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll and No. 3 in the United Soccer Coaches Atlantic regional rankings. It is the highest ranking for the team since the 2016 squad was tabbed 21st in the preseason national poll.
  • Gannon extended its unbeaten streak to seven games with the victory. The Lady Knights have not lost a game since September 9, 2017 against Kutztown. The Lady Knights have allowed their opponents to score just one goal in that stretch of seven games. 
  • With her sixth shutout of the season, Indacochea moves into a tie with Shannon Differ (Brampton, Ontario/Notre Dame C.S.S.) (2015), Sarah Geffel (2012) and Maggie Brinkman (2011) for fourth all-time at Gannon. She needs just two more shutouts to tie the single-season record with Sabrina Chirco (2008) and Kelena Miller (2000).
  • Indacochea also collected her 11th career win Wednesday, which slots her at eighth all-time in the Gannon record books.
  • Cekella netted her third goal of the season and also her third game-winner of the year. It marks the fourth goal of her career.
