ERIE, Pa. – On a night where Gannon senior
Kelsey Ansec (Solon, Ohio/Solon) recorded her 1,000
th career kill, the Lady Knights rolled in three sets over the visiting Kutztown Golden Bears, 25-21, 25-13, 25-13. Ansec led Gannon with 16 kills, hitting at a white-hot .652 clip.

The Lady Knights jumped out to a 6-1 advantage in the first set thanks to kills from
Rebekah Smith (Churchville, N.Y./Churchville-Chili),
Ashley Kerestes (Loves Park, Ill./Rockford Lutheran) and
Toni Leitshuh (Manhattan, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central). Gannon doubled up the Golden Bears at 14-7 on another Kerestes kill. Kutztown followed with a 12-5 run that knotted the set up at 19. Kerestes stopped the run with a kill that gave the Lady Knights back a 20-19 lead. Gannon scored five of the last seven points and took the set, 25-21.
Set two was back-and-forth early on. Gannon held a slim 8-7 advantage before the Lady Knights broke off a 7-1 run to take a 15-8 lead. Up 21-13,

Ashley Beyers (Lanark, Ill./Eastland) set and smashed it across the court where a dig attempt from the Golden Bears was unsuccessful, resulting in her 1,000
th career kill. Gannon took the set, 25-13.
Kutztown began set three tallying three of the first four points.
Rebekah Smith (Churchville, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) killed a ball that began a 6-1 spurt in favor of the Lady Knights that put them up 7-4. Still up 9-7, Gannon snapped off 13-straight points vaulting out to a 22-7 lead. The Lady Knights closed out the set with a 25-13 victory.
Ansec led the Lady Knights in kills (16) for the fifth consecutive match. R. Smith added eight kills while Kerestes poured in seven. Beyers led GU with 20 assists while
Sara Crandall (Cattaraugus, N.Y./Cattaraugus-Little Valley) had a team-high 14 digs.
Gannon improved to 21-4 overall and 10-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Kutztown fell to 7-17, 2-10 in the conference.
The Lady Knights return to the Hammermill Center on Saturday, Oct. 27, against the East Stroudsburg Warriors. East Stroudsburg heads into the match with a 13-10 record, 4-8 in the PSAC. The contest is slated for 2 p.m.
