  • The Short Story – Gannon Men's Soccer scored a pair of goals in a 2-0 victory over the Salem International Tigers on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
     
GAMEDAY CENTRAL
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sergio Kobowane (Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edward VII) recorded the first Golden Knight shot in the 18th minute. Wiktor Stawski was in on the save for the Tigers.
  • Gannon finally broke through in the 40th minute. Eduardo de Bonis Encinoso (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain/Escuelas Pias Tenerife) knocked in what would end up being the game-winning goal. It was his fourth of the season.
  • Gannon went to the half with a 1-0 lead.
  • Four minutes into the second half, Luis Driemel (Berlin, Germany/Leibniz-Schule) tallied his second goal of the season. The insurance goal put the Golden Knights up 2-0.
  • Manuel Mangu (Maple Ridge, British Columbia/Garibaldi Secondary School) and the Gannon defense closed out the second half for the victory.
     
GAME NOTES
  • The Golden Knights won their second non-conference match of the season.
  • Gannon outshot Salem International, 10-9.
  • The Tigers committed 12 fouls compared to Gannon's 11.

  • The Golden Knights came into the contest ranked ninth in the latest United Soccer Coaches Atlantic Region.
