SATURDAY STORYLINES
  • Gannon snapped a four-game skid last Saturday with a 47-25 victory against Edinboro.
  • Three of the Golden Knights' four losses have come by a single score, including the final two by a combined six points.
  • Gannon has played the 26th-toughest schedule in NCAA Division II through its first six games.
  • Marc Jones (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) leads all divisions of the NCAA in rushing yards per game (215.5), rushing yards (1,293), rushing touchdowns (17), total touchdowns (18) and all-purpose yards per game (246.67). The junior tailback also tops NCAA Division II in rushing yards per carry (9.80) and points per game (18.0).
  • Jones has received attention across the country this week after last week's performance. He was named PSAC Western Division Offensive Player of the Week for the second time and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Player of the Week for the third time. In addition, his 57-yard touchdown run was ranked No. 1 on the NCAA Plays of the Week which can be seen by clicking here.
  • Jones produced his sixth consecutive 100-yard rushing performance and seventh in 17 games as a Golden Knight last Saturday against Edinboro. He is the first Gannon player in program history to open a season with six consecutive 100-yard games.
  • Gannon defeated Edinboro for the fourth time in the last five meetings. The Golden Knights have won their last three home contests against the Fighting Scots.
  • Redshirt senior Tyler Palka (Temperance, Mich./Saline) recorded his second 100-yard receiving game and first since the season opener at Southern Connecticut State.
  • Jones broke the school record for rushing touchdowns in a game with six, surpassing the previous record of four accomplished four times.
  • Freshman Tyger Winston (New Rochelle, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac)'s interception during the first quarter was the first of his career.
  • Redshirt junior Geremy Paige (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park) tied a season-high with 10 tackles, reaching double digits for the second time this season. As a result, he was named ECAC Defensive Player of the Week.
  • Junior Jarod Morrison (Hamilton, Ohio/Hamilton) averaged over 50 yards per punt for the third time this season. His 50.0 average against Edinboro ranked third all-time at Gannon with a minimum of three punts in a game. He set the record of 58.3 yards on three punts against Slippery Rock on September 23.
  • Palka produced a career-high 154 all-purpose yards with an additional 42 rushing yards to go along with his 112 receiving yards.
  • Gannon scored at least 45 points for the third time this season.
  • The Golden Knights won their first Homecoming Game since a 33-27 victory against Slippery Rock in 2011.
  • Seton Hill was picked to finish sixth in the PSAC Western Division according to the league's preseason coaches poll.
  • Gannon was predicted to finish fifth in that same poll.
  • Senior Karch Holland (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington) became Gannon's all-time scoring leader against Edinboro on October 7, moving past previous record holder Jon Richardson (2006-09). Holland ranks No. 1 with 223 career points. He converted 52 consecutive extra points from October 24, 2015-September 2, 2017.
  • Zach Phillips (Wheeling, W.Va./Wheeling Park) sits seventh all-time at Gannon with 2,405 career passing yards. The redshirt junior can move past Matt Butler (2004-06) and into sixth place with 399 yards. His 1,724 passing yards in 2016 represented the eighth-highest single-season total in program history.
  • Holland ranks second all-time at Gannon in career field goals (28) through 38 career games. He needs five field goals to tie the program record of 33 set by Jeremy Ditzler (2007-10). Holland's 84.6 field goal percentage (11-13) as a freshman in 2014 represents the best single-season mark in school history. He also holds the school record for PATs with 139.
  • Jones is closing in on Gannon's single-season records for rushing yards (Brock Jones - 1,628 - 2014) and all-purpose yards (Brock Jones - 1,826 - 2014). He enters the Seton Hill game with 1,293 rushing yards and 1,480 all-purpose yards through only six games. M. Jones' 108 points are tied with Brock Jones' school record set in 2014.
  • Morrison set a new program single-game record against Slippery Rock in week five by averaging 58.3 yards per punt. The junior booted punts of 61 yards and 65 yards. Both punts rank among the top 10 in school history.
  • Jones has generated 344 rushing yards more than the next best NCAA Division II player. Bryce Love of NCAA Division I Stanford is the closest student-athlete at any level of the NCAA. However, Love still enters the week 53 yards behind Jones.
  • Morrison enters Saturday's contest with a 41.5 punting average on 62 career punts. It currently ranks first all-time in program history ahead of Adam Schaffer's 39.4 average on 122 career punts from 2011-13.
  • Gannon has recorded three winning seasons during the last four years with a 6-5 mark in 2015, 9-2 record in 2013 and 6-5 mark in 2013. The program's streak of three straight winning seasons represented its longest since producing a program-record four consecutive winning seasons from 1992-95. Gannon has recorded 13 winning campaigns in school history, including a stretch of five in six seasons from 1990-95.
