GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Chelsea Rourke (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) opened the game up with a layup just 19 ticks into play. The bucket gave the Lady Knights a 2-0 lead over California (Pa.).
  • The Lady Vulcans then scored 10 unanswered before the Lady Knights could get another bucket.
  • Baskets from Nicole LaCava (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) and Lauren Tewes (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Kettering) at the end of the first quarter kept the deficit to single digits for the Lady Knights. Gannon trailed 21-12 at the end of the first quarter.
  • Julia Braungart (Southampton, N.J./Camden Catholic) heated up in the second period for GU. She knocked down three buckets, scoring six of her nine points in the quarter.
  • Gannon went to the half down just by 14 points, 38-24.
  • The Lady Knights came out in the third quarter playing even with Lady Vulcans for much of the quarter. Haley Tewes (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Kettering) connected on a layup at the 3:44 mark to pull within 51-34.
  • California (Pa.) came down the floor on the next possession where Seairra Barrett hoisted a shot that was swatted away by Kelsey Herbert (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson).
  • After the block, the Lady Vulcans' bench received a technical foul. Mitchell connected on both free throws to pull the Lady Knights within 51-36.
  • The Lady Vulcans responded after the technical foul, outscoring Gannon 11-2 in the last three minutes of the quarter. California (Pa.) led 62-38 after three quarters.
