Gannon Volleyball Sweeps Shippensburg in Three Sets

The Gannon Lady Knights took down the defending Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) champion, Shippensburg on Saturday (Sept. 24) in three sets, 26-24, 25-22, 26-24.

The Shippensburg Raiders came in to the contest as winners of 12 of their first 13 matches. The Lady Knights also came in with a matching 12-1 record.

The first set was a back and forth affair. Tied 24-24, Hannah Kren (Waukesha, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) delivered a key kill followed by an Ally Smith (Penfield, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) service that scrapped the top of the net and fell in the favor of the Lady Knights for the 26-24 set victory.

Hannah Kren (Waukesha, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) led the Lady Knights with a double-double, posting 13 kills and 13 digs.

Kren also moved in to fifth all-time at Gannon in career digs with 1,346.

Set three saw the same kind of drama as the first. Tied 24-24, Kren delivered again with two timely kills that sealed the match for GU.

Carolyn Knollman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Saint Ursula Academy) paced the Lady Knights with 39 assists while also adding nine digs.

Jordyn Thiery (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) delivered six services aces in the contest; she now has 21 on the season.

The Lady Knights improve to 13-1 overall, 2-0 in the PSAC.

Millersville drops to 12-2 and 1-1 in the conference.

The Lady Knights go on the road on Friday (Sept. 30) against Lock Haven. The match is slated for 7 p.m. Gannon holds a 10-1 advantage all-time against the Lady Eagles.
