Men's Soccer Hands Millersville its First Conference Loss

  • The Short Story: The Gannon men's soccer team looked strong against the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference leading Millersville Marauders. The Golden Knights handed the Marauders their first conference loss of the season, 5-2.

 GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Millersville began the scoring in 20th minute as Jaxson Burns re-gathered a shot block and deposited the ball in the net.
  • Hamza Mourchid (Hombourg-Haut, France/Poncelet) continued his onslaught of scoring this season with his 11th goal in the 59th minute. Mourchid bent a free kick in, equalizing the game at one.
  • Gannon freshman Mathias Krigbaum (Greve, Denmark/Greve Gymnasium) scored his first of three goals in the 65th minute.
  • Two minutes later Krigbaum scored another goal, ultimately being the game winner. The Golden Knights led 3-1.
  • Mourchid tallied his NCAA Division II leading 12th goal in the 76th minute. Krigbaum was in on the assist for GU.
  • Krigbaum's hat-trick was complete in the 77th minute as he tallied his fifth goal of the season.
  • Millersville's Marcus Frangakis added a goal for the Marauders in the 84th minute.
     
GAME NOTES
  • Hamza Mourchid (Hombourg-Haut, France/Poncelet)'s 12 season goals leads NCAA Division II men's soccer in that category.
  • Millersville outshot Gannon, 17-12.
  • Eight yellow cards were handed out in the match. Five cards went to Millersville while three were issued to Gannon.
