THE RUNDOWN

  • The Short Story: The No.19-ranked Gannon men's soccer team downed Alderson Broaddus, 3-0, in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday (Sept. 27) night at McConnell Family Stadium.
     
GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Hamza Mourchid (Hombourg-Haut, France/Poncelet) scored his 13th goal of the season on a penalty kick in the 2nd minute of the game after he was taken down in the box.
  • Alderson Broaddus's head coach received a red card after the Mourchid goal and was ejected from the contest.
  • In the 70th minute Gannon freshman Luis Driemel (Berlin, Germany/Leibniz-Schule) scored his first goal as a Golden Knight. He took a pass from Mathias Krigbaum (Greve, Denmark/Greve Gymnasium) and shot it from 15 yards out.
  • Sergio Kobowane (Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edward VII) notched his fifth goal of the season in the 82nd minute. His shot went through the goalie's hands and dribbled in to the goal.  
     
GAME NOTES
  • Hamza Mourchid (Hombourg-Haut, France/Poncelet)'s 13 season goals leads NCAA Division II men's soccer in that category.
  • Gannon is ranked No.19 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) top 25 rankings.
  • The Golden Knights 6-2-1 record is the best start since the 2012 season when Gannon started 9-0-0.
  • Gannon goalie Jorge Hernandez (Atvidaberg, Sweden/Bildningscentrum Facetten) pitched his first shutout of the season and improved his goalie record to 5-1-1.
  • Nick Stephenson (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) moved into 18th on Gannon's career starts list with 59 in his career.
