HOW IT HAPPENED
  • West Chester scored the first two goals, before freshman Kayla Shields (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) put Gannon on the board by finishing a pass from sophomore Leilani King (St. Albans, Vt./Bellows Free Academy) 4:38 into the contest.
  • The home squad countered with four straight scores to assume a 6-1 lead midway through the first half.
  • Gannon sliced the deficit in half with consecutive goals from junior Tessa Mitchell (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) and sophomore Kierstyn Haight (Oshawa, Ontario/Maxwell Heights). The mini-run brought the Lady Knights within 6-3 at the 14:14 mark.
  • That's when West Chester got rolling, The Golden Rams ripped off the final six scores of the first half to grab a 12-3 halftime advantage.
  • Gannon opened the second half scoring with junior Ashley Mozingo's (Fallston, Md./Fallston) tally 55 seconds after the break. It was the Lady Knights' first goal in 15 minutes and nine seconds dating back to the first half.
  • But West Chester answered again with a long 8-0 run that put the match away.
  • Gannon went 26 minutes and 11 seconds in the second half without a score until Mitchell buried two shots during the final 2:54 to account for the final 20-6 score.
