HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
  • Gannon continued its 2016 trend of scoring first, plating a run during the bottom of the first inning. Senior Jared Wiesen (Girard, Ohio/Liberty) drew a lead-off walk and immediately scored on redshirt senior Mark DeVita's (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) RBI double to left center.

  • The Golden Knights then almost pulled off an epic comeback. Entering its final at-bat trailing 9-2, Gannon plated five runs. After the first run scored on an error, redshirt freshman Nate Cardy (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) produced a two-run single through the left side.
  • Sophomores Kyle Cox (Dorchester, N.J./Millville) and Matt Oruch (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) later had RBI singles, cutting the deficit to 9-7.
