GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Wheeling Jesuit needed only 40 seconds to score the first goal on Elizabeth Hales' unassisted tally.
  • The remainder of the first half belonged to Gannon. Sophomore Ashley Mozingo (Fallston, Md./Fallston) tied the match 1:40 later and senior Kelsey Bright (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) put the Lady Knights in front 41 seconds after that.
  • The Gannon goals started an 8-0 run that lasted the remainder of the first half. Six different Lady Knights scored during the blitz. Mozingo and sophomore Kaitie Babiarz (Alpharetta, Ga./Johns Creek) netted multiple goals.
  • Wheeling Jesuit was able to right the ship after the intermission. Hales scored again 3:27 into the second half, cutting the deficit to 8-2 and ending a scoreless stretch that lasted 32 minutes and 47 seconds.
  • The visitors generated a mini 3-0 run to pull within 8-4 at the 25:05 mark.
  • Gannon countered with back-to-back goals from Mozingo and junior Tessa Mitchell (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) to regain control at 10-4 with 19:47 remaining.
  • Wheeling Jesuit cut the deficit to four goals for a second time with 1:22 to play, before freshman Kayla Shields' (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) score with four seconds left capped the scoring.
