GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Despite the early start time, Gannon came out of the gates on fire and scored the first four goals. Sophomore Kierstyn Haight (Oshawa, Ontario/Maxwell Heights) netted two of those goals. Sophomore Leilani King (St. Albans, Vt./Bellows Free Academy) and senior Becky Hilker (Bowmanville, Ontario/Clarington Central SS) added the other two.
  • East Stroudsburg couldn't manage a score until Annatasia Porpora's tally 13:29 into the contest.
  • King answered the Warriors' first goal with her second of the match.
  • After another ESU score, King and Hilker scored consecutive goals to give Gannon a 7-2 lead with 12:05 remaining in the first half.
  • That's when the visitors took off. East Stroudsburg scored the final four goals of the opening 30 minutes, cutting the deficit to 7-6 at the break.
  • The Warriors continued their run during the second half, scoring four more times to forge ahead 10-7 with 23:14 to play.
  • Freshman Alexa Bower (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) finally ended Gannon's scoreless drought of 20 minutes and 44 seconds when she found the back of the net off a free position shot with 21:21 showing on the clock. The score brought the Lady Knights within 10-8.
  • The two teams then combined to account for the rest of the scoring with three two-goal runs. After Jaime Zimmer's consecutive goals gave the Warriors a 12-8 edge, the Lady Knights climbed back within 12-10 after Hilker and junior Ashley Mozingo (Fallston, Md./Fallston) recorded back-to-back scores.
  • ESU countered with the contest's final two goals, icing the 14-10 victory.
