GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon held a 4-3 lead, before the Lady Knights scored the final three goals of the first half. Junior Tessa Mitchell (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta), sophomore Leilani King (St. Albans, Vt./Bellows Free Academy) and freshman Micaela Capozzo (Medford, Mass./Pinkerton Academy) tallied goals to give the home squad a 6-3 halftime advantage.
  • Senior Kelsey Bright (San Diego, Calif./Rancho Bernardo) opened the second half with an unassisted score 1:11 into the stanza, giving Gannon an 8-3 edge.
  • Kutztown got off the deck and responded with the next three goals, cutting the deficit to 8-6 with 23:55 to play. The Golden Bears' first score of the run stopped a scoreless streak that lasted 14 minutes and 25 seconds going back to the first half.
  • Gannon countered the four consecutive goals to ice the victory. Mitchell netted the first two, before sophomore Kierstyn Haight (Oshawa, Ontario/Maxwell Heights) and junior Ashley Mozingo (Fallston, Md./Fallston) followed with scores. Mozingo's tally at the 10:14 mark gave the Lady Knights their biggest lead of the afternoon at 12-6.
  • Kutztown found the back of the net two more times, but was unable to get any closer than four goals the rest of the way.
