The Short Story: The No. 9 Gannon acrobatics and tumbling team won or tied three heats Saturday night to earn a tri-meet split before over 700 fans at the Hammermill Center. With eight programs qualifying for the national championships, the Lady Knights picked up a critical 268.670-253.945 victory against No. 8 King (Tenn.) and dropped a 282.03-268.670 decision against Oregon. Gannon defeated the Ducks in the acro event 29.15-28.80.

MEET NOTES- Oregon took the lead immediately with a 39.25 score in the opening compulsory event. Gannon took second with a 37.70 score compared to King's 36.55 total.
- The Lady Knights defeated Oregon and King in the acro event, producing a 29.15 score. The Ducks and Tornado followed with 28.80 and 28.70 points, respectively.
- Gannon won the opening five element heat (9.90) of the acro event, before tying King during the final seven element heat (9.55).
- Oregon won the pyramid event, but Gannon still finished ahead of King. The Ducks then took the halftime lead with 97.80 points. The Lady Knights were second (96.25) and the Tornado third (94.60).
- All nine heats during the second half and the final team event went to Oregon. After King defeated Gannon during the toss event, the Lady Knights rebounded with a 51.5-50.475 victory in the tumbling event.
- Gannon clinched its victory over King with a 93.12-80.77 edge during the final team event.
BEYOND THE SCORESHEET- Gannon was ranked No. 9 in the latest National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) coaches' poll released March 4.
- Oregon was tabbed No. 2 in the NCATA coaches' poll while King (Tenn.) ranked eighth.
- Saturday's tri-meet was Gannon's second of the season.
- Gannon's victory against King was critical as the programs jockey for the eighth spot in the rankings. Only eight programs will qualify for the NCATA National Championship April 16-19 in Waco, Texas.
- The Lady Knights won the acro five element heat for the fourth time in five competitions this season. The group received a 9.90 score for the second time, duplicating its performance at Quinnipiac on February 28.
- Gannon improved to 2-1 all-time against King.
UP NEXT- Gannon has two weeks off before concluding the regular season Saturday, April 2 against Glenville State at the Hammermill Center.
- The dual meet is scheduled for 2 p.m.
- It will also be Senior Day as Gannon will honor Lindsey McKnight (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) and Kayla Telego (Knox, Pa./Keystone) prior to the meet.
- Glenville State is tabbed 11th in the latest NCATA coaches' poll.
- Gannon and Glenville State will be meeting for the first time ever. The Pioneers are competing in their inaugural season.
