GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
  • Lewis scored a run during its first at-bat, before Gannon tied the game in the bottom of the first inning without a hit. After two outs, junior Jen Moran (West Mifflin, Pa./Fox Chapel) and senior Alyssa Bates (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) drew back-to-back walks. Moran then came around to score on an error by the shortstop.
  • The Flyers extended their lead to 8-1 with a pair of three-run innings in the second and third.
  • Lewis put the eight-run rule in effect with two more runs during the top of the fifth inning.
  • The game was then called after Gannon was retired in order during the bottom half of the fifth.

GAME NOTES - GAME ONE
  • Nineteen Lady Knights saw action in the game with 12 receiving an official at-bat.
  • Freshman Kellyn Perich (Venetia, Pa./Peters Township) started the game on the mound, allowing two earned runs in two innings.
  • Senior Alison Benz (Orchard Park, N.Y./Mount Mercy Academy) worked the final three innings.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon was no-hit for the first time since April 19, 2010 against California (Pa.).

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO
  • Gannon took the lead during the top of the second inning. Senior Rachel deGuia (Canal Fulton, Ohio/Northwest) reached on an error, moved to second on an infield single by sophomore Nathaly Pacheco (Rialto, Calif./Eisenhower) and scored on a two-out single up the middle by sophomore Jackie Martinez (Phoenix, Ariz./Xavier College Prep).
  • The Lady Knights put the game out of doubt with a five-run explosion in the sixth. Martinez ignited the rally with a bases-loaded double that plated two runs. After Moran followed with a two-out RBI single up the middle, Martinez crossed the plate on a wild pitch. Freshman Kherrin Morgan (Hamilton, Ohio/Talawanda) capped the inning with an RBI single through the left side.

GAME NOTES - GAME TWO
  • Martinez went 3-for-5 with one run and three RBIs out of the lead-off spot.
  • Pacheco finished 2-for-4 with one run.
  • Gumbita remained perfect at 3-0 with seven shutout innings, allowing only two hits. She struck out 11 and walked none.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

UP NEXT
