GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Slippery Rock was off and running with the first nine points of the game. Gannon was unable to get on the board until junior Kevin Kuteyi (Lanham, Md./Duval) hit a jumper 6:12 into the contest.
  • The Rock's lead reached double digits twice, before the Golden Knights generated seven consecutive points to climb with 19-16 at the 7:57 mark. Senior Jean Yves Toupane (Dakar, Senegal/Lee (Maine) Academy) had an old-fashion three-point play after four free throws by Gardener.
  • Leading 28-24, Slippery Rock ended the first half with an 11-3 blitz.
  • The Rock made two field goals during the final 36 seconds, including Jordan Grady's lay-up with three ticks left to push the home team into halftime with a 39-27 advantage.
  • Slippery Rock opened the second half with back-to-back three-pointers to assume its biggest lead of the evening at 45-27.
  • Trailing 57-41, Gannon out-scored Slippery Rock 14-4 over the next seven minutes and 50 seconds.
  • Gardener's lay-in while being fouled and his ensuing free throw cut the deficit to 61-55 with 53 seconds remaining.
  • However, Slippery Rock went 4-of-6 from the free throw line the rest of the way and iced a 62-57 victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon concluded the road portion of its schedule with a 1-11 record.

  • Gannon tied a season-high with 11 steals, reaching double digits in steals for the fourth time in the last five games.
  • The Golden Knights' five assists were their fewest since having four during a 44-36 loss at Mercyhurst on February 20, 2013.
  • Slippery Rock's 43-29 rebounding edge was the largest by a Gannon opponent since the Rock had a 48-29 advantage during the Golden Knights' 73-69 overtime victory in the PSAC Quarterfinals on March 4, 2014.
