THE RUNDOWN
  • Score: at Gannon 71, Bloomsburg 63 (OT)

  • The Short Story: Julia Braungart (Southampton, N.J./Camden Catholic) hit a three-pointer with 11 seconds left in the fourth quarter to extend the game to overtime where timely shots propelled the Lady Knights to a 71-63 victory over Bloomsburg.
     
GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bloomsburg jumped out to a 9-5 advantage in the first five minutes of the game before Gannon finished the quarter on a 6-2 run to pull even at 11.
  • Gannon went up 14-11 on a Haley Tewes (Waterford, Mich./Waterford Kettering) three-point play at the 9:20 mark of the second quarter.
  • Bloomsburg responded with a 10-0 run to go up 21-14 over the Lady Knights.
  • Bloomsburg went into the half with a six-pont lead, 27-21.
  • GU came out in the third and outscored the Huskies, 17-10 in the quarter.
  • Gannon clung to a 38-37 lead after three quarters.
  • The Lady Knights hit a flurry of shots to begin the fourth quarter; Nicole LaCava (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory), Lanise Saunders (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) and Maggie Mitchell (Newark, Ohio/Newark) all chipped in to extend the lead to six points, 45-39 in favor of Gannon.
  • Morgan Klunk connected on two free throws and a jumper to pull the Huskies back to within one at 45-44 at the 6:36 mark of the fourth quarter.
  • The game went back and forth as time was winding down. Down one, Saunders hit two free throws with 1:36 remaining in the game to reclaim a 53-52 lead for the Lady Knights. It was Saunders 17th and 18th points on the afternoon.
  • Taylor Montana came up clutch for the Huskies, going down the court and getting a jumper to fall. Her jumper put the Huskies up 54-53 with 1:28 remaining. The Huskies would tack on two free throws to pull ahead by three with 21 seconds remaining.
  • Gannon called a timeout to set up a final shot.
  • Mitchell took a dribble and found an open Julia Braungart (Southampton, N.J./Camden Catholic) who buried a three-pointer with 11 seconds remaining. The game went to overtime tied at 56.
  • Once the game got to overtime, the momentum was fully on the side of the Lady Knights.
  • Mitchell hit a three-pointer at the 2:45 mark to give Gannon a 61-58 lead.
  • Klunk came down the floor and weaved her way to a basket, getting the gap back to one at 61-60.
  • On the other end of the court Mitchell found a waiting LaCava beyond the arc and she found nylon to give the Lady Knights a four-point lead at 64-60 with just 2:01 remaining.
  • With just 43 seconds on the clock, LaCava extended the lead with two free throws, pulling the lead out to a three possession game at 67-60.
  • The Lady Knights hung on as time ran out, 71-63, over the Huskies.
     
GAME NOTES
  • Saunders posted her first career 20-point game on 8-of-17 shooting from the field.
  • It was Saunders' third consecutive double-double and fifth of the season.
  • Mitchell tallied her ninth-straight double-figures scoring game for GU. She finished with 11 points, six assists and five rebounds.
  • LaCava completed Gannon's trio of double-digit scorers with 11 points on 2-of-3 shooting from the field and going 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
  • Gannon shot 36.5 percent (19-52) from the field, 35.3 percent (6-17) from three-point range and 77.1 percent (27-35) from the free throw line.
  • Gannon went 27-of-35 from the free-throw line as a team, the second-most free throws made by a PSAC team this season.
  • The Lady Knights tied a season-high with 15 assists in the game.
     
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon out-rebounded its opponent for the seventh time in nine games.
  • The last time the Lady Knights played in an overtime game was against Slippery Rock on Jan. 23, 2016. Gannon pulled the game out, 72-65.
  • The Lady Knights scored a season-most 71 points against Bloomsburg. Their previous high was 67 in a victory at Cheyney.
