HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon put the pressure on right before its first goal. The Lady Knights fired six consecutive shots during a six-minute span, before Lewis connected for the first time in the 33rd minute. • The Lady Knights had consecutive shots 90 seconds apart miss the net with less than six minutes left in the first half.
  • Gannon out-shot Mansfield 11-5 during the opening 45 minutes, but eventually settled for a 1-0 lead at the intermission.
  • Lewis added an insurance goal 11:18 into the second half, beating the goalkeeper to the right from 10 yards out for a 2-0 advantage. Sophomore Kelsey O'Connor (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) was credited with an assist on the play.
  • The two teams battled on even terms the rest of the way with Gannon holding a slight 7-6 edge in shots during the final 32 minutes.
