  • The Short Story: Rory McKinnon deflected the game-winning goal into the net with 12:07 remaining in regulation as Seton Hill upset 17th-ranked Gannon 2-1 Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) men's soccer action at McConnell Family Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon dominated the first half despite scoring no goals during the opening 45 minutes. The Golden Knights held a 6-2 edge in shots and 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
  • The Golden Knights' first flurry came in the 14th minute when they hit the crossbar, before a shot off the rebound sailed high.
  • Seton Hill appeared to have scored the first goal in the 26th minute when Curtis Gallagher scored inside the right post, but he was whistled for a foul right before the shot.
  • The teams eventually went to the intermission deadlocked at zero.
  • Seton Hill turned the tables on Gannon during the second half, producing a 10-3 edge in shots.
  • The Griffins struck first 6:26 into the second half. After being left open, Joe Smith decided to take a shot from 40 yards out. He drilled the shot over a leaping goalkeeper and just under the crossbar for a 1-0 lead.
  • Seton Hill had a chance to extend its lead in the 60th minute when it got a pass behind the defense, but Gallagher fired the shot wide left.
  • Gannon drew even in the 67th minute. Senior Hamza Mourchid (Hombourg-Haut, France/Poncelet) was awarded a penalty kick after being pulled down inside the box. He converted the kick to create a 1-1 tie.
  • Seton Hill then got the game-winner with 12:07 remaining. Louis Mason initiated a crossing pass that was redirected into the inside the right post by McKinnon's header from 10 yards out for a 2-1 lead.
  • Gannon's only shot the rest of the way went wide in the 85th minute, before Seton Hill escaped with a 2-1 upset victory.

GAME NOTES
  • Seton Hill finished with a 12-9 edge in shots after being out-shot 6-2 during the opening 45 minutes.
  • Gannon took all seven corner kicks taken during the match.
  • The physical match featured 40 fouls. Seton Hill was whistled for 23 fouls while Gannon was on the end of 17.
  • Junior Jorge Hernandez (Atvidaberg, Sweden/Bildningscentrum Facetten) recorded four saves between the pipes, including three during the second half.
