Kren Posts Double-Double; Volleyball Grounds Golden Eagles, 3-1.

There was a little something extra to play for on Friday (Oct. 7) night at Clarion.

The Gannon Lady Knights were a part of Clarion's Breast Cancer Awareness match and GU certainly played with a lot of heart and determination in the match, downing the Golden Eagles in four sets, 25-17, 25-21, 24-26, 25-17.

In set one Gannon led 16-12 before reeling off an 8-3 run that put the set out of reach at 24-15. In the run Jordyn Thiery (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) had two service aces while Hannah Kren (Waukesha, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) crushed two kills.

Gannon led 23-21 in set two when Clarion made two miscues to give Gannon the set victory.

Gannon dropped a close third set, 26-24, but bounced back in set four with a 25-17 victory.

The victory marks the 15th win in 17 tries this season. The Lady Knights have the same mark after 17 matches as the 2014 Lady Knights that went 24-7 made a trip to the NCAA tournament.

GU improves to 4-1 in the Pensylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), trailing Edinboro by just one game in the Northwest Division.

Sara Crandall (Cattaraugus, N.Y./Cattaraugus-Little Valley) notched a team-high 23 digs, adding in eight assists.

Kren posted a double-double, collecting 14 kills and 14 digs in the contest.

Kren passed Mandi Altomari for fourth all-time in career digs (1,378) at Gannon. Altomari tallied 1,364 digs in her career from 2000-03.

Carolyn Knollman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Saint Ursula Academy) led the team with 44 assists. She's averaging 10.1 assists per set this season.

Clarion falls to 9-8 overall, 3-2 in the conference.

The Lady Knights travel to Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday, Oct. 7, to face off against the Crimson Hawks. GU leads the all-time series, 34-10.
