The Short Story: The No.17-ranked Gannon men's soccer team outlasted Slippery Rock, 1-0 on Wednesday (Oct. 5) for the Golden Knights' fifth consecutive victory of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Alex Schroeck (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) delivered the first goal of the match in the 43^rd minute. Schroeck took a George Stannard (Hull, England/Cottingham) pass and directed the ball in to the goal to give the Golden Knights the lead.
Slippery Rock had two Mike Pcholinsky shots on goal in the 73^rd and 77^th minutes but both shots were rejected by GU goalie, Jorge Hernandez (Atvidaberg, Sweden/Bildningscentrum Facetten).
Slippery didn't have a shot on goal in the final 13 minutes of the contest.

GAME NOTES

Gannon's five-game win-streak is its longest since 2012.
GU pitches its second shutout of the season.
The Golden Knights are ranked No.17 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) top 25 rankings.
