The Gannon University volleyball team was back on the court Saturday (Oct. 22) afternoon against Slippery Rock in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Northwest Division contest. The Lady Knights backed up their wild Friday night win with a sweep over the Rock, 25-14, 25-19, 25-18.
Gannon started set one with a 16-12 advantage before
Hannah Kren (Waukesha, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) went on a tear, collecting three kills and aiding the Lady Knights in a set-ending 9-2 run. GU took the set, 25-14.
In set two, The Rock was clinging to within four of Gannon at 20-16.
Beka Smith (Churchville, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) gave some breathing room for the Lady Knights by killing two balls to extend the lead to six. Gannon went on to win by that same margin, 25-19.
Set three saw drama late as Gannon held a 21-18 lead. Slippery Rock tried to inch closer but Gannon capitalized on three Rock miscues and ended the set, 25-18.
Kren led the team with her fourth consecutive double-double. Kren produced 12 kills, 12 digs and had a .346 hitting percentage.
Kren moved into second all-time at Gannon in career digs, moving past Katie Flower (2003-06) who eclipsed 1,440 digs. Kren stands with 1,449.

Jordyn Thiery (Cincinnati, Ohio/McAuley) in the exclusive club.

th at Gannon. He needs just two more to reach the 200 win mark. Only one other GU coach has reached that numer. Gerry Vensel collected 271 victories for Gannon from 1986-94.
Sara Crandall (Cattaraugus, N.Y./Cattaraugus-Little Valley) had a team-high 18 digs. She sits at 986 career digs and needs just 14 more to reach the 1,000-dig milestone.
Gannon improves to 20-3 overall, 9-2 in the PSAC.
Slippery Rock falls to 8-15 on the season, 1-10 in the confrence.
Gannon will be at East Stroudsburg on Friday, Oct. 28. The match is slated for 7 p.m. The Lady Knights will then be at Kutztown on Saturday, Oct. 29. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
