The Short Story – The Gannon men's swim team fell, 103.5-101.5, in a close meet against NCAA Division I Canisius Saturday afternoon at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion Pool. Prior to the start of the meet the team honored the four senior members of the men's team.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Drew Wolter claimed the Golden Knights claimed the opening Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying time in the 1650-yard Freestyle with a time of 17:17.98 and a third place finish, following him was Mike Lawrence with a time of 17:25.58 and a conference time.
• Ryan Carter finished fourth in the 200-yard  Freestyle with a PSAC qualifying time of 1:50.02, teammates Parker Kilstrom and Javier Ruisanchez who finished fifth and sixth.
• Michael Weiser took a first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a conference time of .21.90, Allan Collins finished fourth with a conference time of .22.49, and Matt Loughner with a fifth place finish and PSAC time of .22.77.
• Denys Fedorchenko claimed first in the 200-yard IM, with a new school and pool record of 1:53.57, also good enough for a PSAC qualifying time.
• Nils Groeppler finished first with a conference time of .51.61, while Cole Davis also swam a PSAC time of .55.38.
• Fedorchenko broke the pool record in the 100-yard Freestyle with a first place and PSAC time of .47.00.
• Maciej Skrzypczak and Trevor Durnwald took second and third place in the 100-yard Backstroke with times of .56.76 and .56.96 both good enough for the conference.
• In 500-yard Freestyle action, Mike Lawrence and Tommy Herman finished third and fourth with PSAC times of 5:02.86 and 5:03.63.
• Mike Smith finished second in the 100-yard Breaststroke with a PSAC time of 1:02.77.
• The squad of Wolter, Collins, Weiser and Fedorchenko broke the CAP Pool record in the 400-yard Free Relay with a time of 3:10.57.
