The Short Story: The Gannon women's basketball team came up short in overtime, as they fell to Slippery Rock 72, 65, Saturday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division game.

- Slippery Rock took the lead, 9-8, with 4:24 off a jumper from Audrey Stapleton.Â
- Stapleton recorded back-to-back buckets to give the Rock a 14-11 lead, with 2 minutes left in the quarter.
- McKenna Shives sank a three-pointer to tie the game, 14-14, before Gannon closed the quarter going on a 5-0 run, led by Shives.
- The Rock began to chip away at Gannon's lead, pulling within two, 22-20, with 7:41 left in the second.
- Mallory Heinle tied the game 22-22 with a jumper, before Shives put the Lady Knights back on top with a three-pointer, 25-22, 5:31.
- Krista Pietropola pulled the Rock within one, 30-29, of the Lady Knights with a three-pointer at the 2:29 mark.
- The Lady Knights went on a 7-2 run to go into the locker room leading 37-32.
- SRU went on a 6-0 run to trail Gannon, 40-39 with 7:13 left in the third quarter.
- A lay-up from Stapleton tied the game at 42 with 6:45, before the Lady Knights took a 46-42 lead with 5:01 remaining in the third quarter.
- SRU took a 48-46 lead, off Ciara Patterson free throws with 3:13 left, before they closed the third quarter with a 51-47 lead.
- Slippery Rock took a five point lead, 54-49, with 7:52. But the Lady Knights began to chip away at that lead, a lay-up from Elissa Ellerbrock tied the game at 56 with 3:46 left in regulation.
- Senior Jennie Thies gave Gannon a 58-56 lead with 1:11 left, before Lexi Carpenter sank both free throws with 53 seconds left to send the game into overtime.
- Gannon took a 62-58 led with 3:15 left in overtime, but the Rock responded with a three-pointer and free throw from Carpenter to tie the game 62 with 2:15.
- Slippery Rock closed the game going on a 10-3 run for the 72-65 victory.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:- Senior Jennie Thies recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 21 points and 15 rebounds.
- Shives chipped in with 17 points and was 5-of-11 from beyond the arc.
- Gannon was 34.4 percent (22-64) from the field, 30 percent (6-20) from beyond the arc and 71.4 percent (15-21) from the free throw line.
- Slippery Rock was led by Lexi Carpenter with a game-high 24 points, while Audrey Stapleton chipped in with 14 points. Sorriyah Ranger recorded eight rebounds for the Rock.
- The Rock was 38.7 percent (24-62) from the field, 22.7 percent (5-22) and was 73.1 percent (19-26) from the charity stripe.
