GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The two squads battled through a scoreless first half despite a couple decent scoring chances.
  • The first opportunity came in the 11th minute when senior Ally Sharpe (Holley, N.Y./Brockport) ripped a point-blank shot from 10 yards out, but the Millersville goalkeeper deflected the attempt over the crossbar.
  • Senior Becca Albert (Fairview, Pa./General McLane) later hit the crossbar from 30 yards out in the 27th minute. The rebound then came out in front, but the Lady Knights were unable to get another shot off.
  • Gannon out-shot Millersville 12-0 during the opening 45 minutes, but was unable to dent the scoreboard.
  • The Lady Knights peppered the Millersville goal with three shots during the opening four minutes and 19 seconds of the second half. The third attempt provided the eventual game-winner.
  • Senior Sammy Valloud's (Erie, Pa./McDowell) pass through the middle got Genetin behind the defense. After dribbling a few yards, Genetin beat the goalkeeper just under the crossbar from 20 yards out for the only score of the match.
  • Millersville's best scoring chance came in the 65th minute as Megan Kelley came in with a defender on her back. But junior Shannon Differ (Brampton, Ontario/Notre Dame C.S.S.) came out of the goal and made a sliding stop.
  • Neither team was able to provide another goal the rest of the way, before Gannon secured the 1-0 victory.
