- Gannon split the Flyers' lead in half, 4-2, in the top of the fifth. Opening the inning with a walk by junior Rachel deGuia (Canal Fulton, Ohio / Northwest), both seniors Jess Rectenwald (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Hills) and Meghan Cunha (Geneva, Ohio / Edgewood) loaded the bases loaded with singles. Junior Alyssa Bates (Greensburg, Pa. / Hempfield) drove in Rectenwald and Cunha for the Lady Knights' two runs.
- The Flyers pushed their lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI-base hit.
- Looking to rally in the top of the seventh, the Lady Knights managed to score two runs before falling short to the Flyers, 5-4. A leadoff single to left by Rectenwald put GU on base. Next up, Bates drilled a two-run home run to left to trail the Flyers by one. Following Bates' bomb, the Lady Knights' chance of rally came to an end on a ground out to short and back-to-back strikeouts.
