The Short Story: The Gannon women's basketball completed the weekend with a 82-63, victory over Bloomsburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division game in Bloomsburg, Pa. Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Gannon jumped out to a commanding 11-0 lead with 5:48 left in the game, before Adreana Sadowski laid the ball in and put Bloomsburg on the board at the 5:31 mark of the first quarter.
  • McKenna Shives and Morgan Neighbors hit back-to-back three-pointers to extend the Lady Knight's lead, 17-2 with 4:32 left in the first quarter.
  • The Lady Knight's took their largest lead of the quarter, 17 (22-5), as Shives sank a three-ball with 1:32 left on the clock.
  • Elissa Ellerbrock converted a three-point play, as Gannon lead 25-13 at the end of the quarter.
  • Bloomsburg began to chip away at Gannon's lead, trailing by only one point (28-27),  as Alyssa Mack hit a three-ball with 5:18 left on the clock in the second quarter.
  • The Huskies would tie the game, 36-36, with 1:21 left in the quarter
  • Gannon would tie and regain the lead as Nicole LaCava sank both free throws with 18 seconds left in the quarter.
  • Lauren Tewes hit a three-pointer with six seconds left in the quarter to send Gannon into the half leading 40-37.
  • Bloomsburg opened the third quarter going on a 5-2 run to tie Gannon 42-42 with 7:43 left in the quarter.
  • The Huskies would go on a 4-0 run to lead Gannon, 46-45 with 6:09 showing on the clock.
  • Bloomsburg took a five point lead, 57-52 with 4:12 left in third, but Gannon responded going on a 5-0 run to close the third quarter and take back the lead, 61-59.
  • The Lady Knights opened the fourth quarter going on a 12-0 run, before the Huskies called a timeout with 5:44 left in the game.
  • Gannon continued their run adding nine more points to lead 82-59, with 3:27 left in the fourth.
  • Shives combined for eight points, while Jennie Thies chipped in with six during the run.
  • Bloomsburg scored the final two points of the game, but Gannon went on for the 82-63 victory. 

GAME NOTES:
  • Brennan led scorers on both sides with a game-high 20 points, she was 4-of-6 from the free throw line for Gannon.
  • Thies recorded her fourth double-double of the season, scoring 13 points and 14 boards.
  • Neighbors chipped in with 13 points, five rebounds and was 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, while fellow senior Amanda Berchtold had eight boards and dished out six in 29 minutes of action.
  • The Lady Knights were 43.9 percent (29-66) from the field, and were 57.1 percent (16-28) from the free throw line.
  • Bloomsburg was had five players scoring in double figures, leading the way was Mia Hopkins with 12 points.
  • Alex Ross recorded a double-double for the Huskies, with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
  • Alyssa Mack chipped in with 11 points, while Adrana Sadowski and Julia Santz each had 10 points.
  • The Huskies shot 68.6 percent (11-16) from the free throw line, 36.5 percent (23-63) from the field and  24 percent (6-25) from the three-point range.

UP NEXT:
  • The Lady Knights will be idle for the week, they return to action on December 16, as they stay close to home and travel to Edinboro.
  • The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and is part of a conference double-header with the men's team.
