The Short Story: The Gannon women's basketball team defeated rival Edinboro, 75-55, for the first time at McComb Fieldhouse since the 2009-10 NCAA DII Final Four Team, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division matchup Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Gannon jumped out to a 7-0 lead, forcing Edinboro to call a timeout with 6:40 left in the first quarter.
  • Katie Fischer put Edinboro on the board with a jumper with 6:29 left, Fischer remained on target recording eight consecutive points and pulling the Fighting Scots within one, 11-10 with 4:38 left.
  • The Lady Knights went on an 11-0 run to take a 22-10 lead with 1:21 left in the quarter. Senior Jennie Thies recorded six points and five defensive rebounds in the run.
  • Senior Morgan Neighbors sank a layup with 33 seconds left to give Gannon a 24-12 lead to the end of the quarter.
  • The Lady Knights took a 16 point lead, 28-12, with 8:11 left in the second quarter.
  • Edinboro recorded six consecutive points, but Gannon continued to carry the momentum as sophomore McKenna Shives tallied nine points for the Lady Knights, to lead 40-27 with 1:21 left before heading into halftime. 
  • Gannon closed out the second quarter on a 4-0 run, including back-to-back jumpers from freshman Elissa Ellerbrock and included a buzzer beater from Berchtold, as Gannon went into the locker room leading 44-27.
  • The Lady Knights opened the third quarter going on a 6-2 run, which included back-to-back three-pointers from junior Brianna Brennan and Neighbors with 8:40 left on the clock, to lead 50-29.
  • The Fighting Scots went on a 4-0 run with 7:13 showing on the clock, but Gannon responded with a 6-0 run of their own as Neighbors and Shives hit back-to-back three-balls.
  • Fischer responded with a three-pointer of her own, but again the Lady Knights answered going on a 5-0 run to lead 63-38 with under three minutes left in the third.
  • Gannon again recorded the final four points of the quarter to lead 67-43 going into the fourth.
  • Edinboro's offense rallied to score eight consecutive points over a six minute span, before Neighbors hit a three-pointer to lead 71-51.
  • The Fighting Scots final four points came from the free throw line, but Shives sank the final basket from the three-point line and Gannon easily took the 75-55 victory.

GAME NOTES:
  • This is Gannon's first win at McComb Fieldhouse since the 2009-10 NCAA Division II Final Four team.
  • Senior Jennie Thies records her fifth double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. She has reached double digits in rebounds in eight straight games and 10 of 11 games this season.
  • Shives scored 21 points and tied a career-high with five three-pointers.
  • Two other Lady Knights reached double-digits in scoring, including Neighbors who had 14 points and Brennan with 12 points.
  • Gannon shot a season-best 58 percent, representing its best shooting percentage since hitting 58.5 percent of its shots at Cheyney on December 20, 2014.
  • Edinboro was led by Katie Fischer with a game-high 28 points, while Nicole Johnson chipped in with six points and nine rebounds.
  • The Fighting Scots shot 32.8 percent (5-21) from the field, and were held to 23.8 percent (5-21) from beyond the arc.

  • The Lady Knights close out the 2015 year as they host Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday, December 19 at the Hammermill Center.
  • The game is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and is part of a conference double-header with the men's team.
