HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bloomsburg jumped on Gannon early, scoring the first seven points during the opening 79 seconds.
  • The Golden Knights drew within 7-5 on a three-pointer by redshirt sophomore Marcus Jones (Brantford, Ontario/Athlete Institute) and freshman Cyril Clarke (Tema, Ghana/Nandom).
  • However, Bloomsburg responded with 13 straight points to assume a 20-5 advantage with 11:44 left in the first half.
  • Gannon found itself in a hole after going 2-of-10 from the field with seven turnovers during the opening nine minutes and 30 seconds.
  • Trailing 34-21, the Golden Knights generated a 9-2 run. Junior Kevin Kuteyi (Lanham, Md./Duval) followed a Clark lay-up with six consecutive points. Sophomore Isaiah Eisendorf's (Los Angeles, Calif./Springbrook, Md.) free throw cut the deficit to 36-30 with 51 seconds left.
  • Bloomsburg added a late basket and headed into the break with a 38-30 lead.
  • Gannon put itself back in position to win the game after a 9-0 blitz forged a 43-43 tie with 14:14 remaining. Junior Emmanuel Matey (Lanham, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) started the rally with a lay-up, before senior Jean Yves Toupane (Dakar, Senegal/Lee (Maine) Academy) scored consecutive baskets. Kuteyi then drilled a three-pointer to tie the game.
  • However, the Golden Knights were never able to grab the lead after Bloomsburg's Malik Sneed scored on a lay-up during the Huskies' next possession.
  • Leading 55-51, Bloomsburg got a three-pointer from Alex Prislupsky and lay-up by Malik Garner for a nine-point advantage with 8:33 to play.
  • The home team bumped its lead into double digits five times during the final five minutes only to see Gannon claw back within single digits every time. But the Golden Knights were unable to get closer than six points the rest of the way.

GAME NOTES
