The Short Story: The Gannon women's basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak, as they defeated Indiana (Pa.), 81-66, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division game in Erie, Pa, Tuesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Gannon jumped out to a 5-0 lead, as Morgan Neighbors sank a three-ball 38 seconds into the game.
  • Indiana responded with a three-pointer from Leslie Stapleton and a lay-up by Zhane Brooks to tie the game at 5-5 with 7:29 left on the clock in the first quarter.
  • The Lady Knights went on a small 8-3 run, to take a 13-8 lead with 4:21 left on the clock.
  • The Crimson Hawks hit back-to-back three-pointers, coming from Stapleton and Courteney Storm, taking a 14-13 lead with 2:57 remaining in the quarter.
  • The Lady Knights closed the first quarter going on a 5-0 run, to tie the game at 18-18.
  • Trailing 23-20 in the second quarter, Neighbors sank a three-pointer to tie the game with 6:22 left.
  • Lanise Saunders extended Gannon's lead with a with a nice layup, but Megan Smith responded for the Crimson Hawks hitting a jumper to tie the game,25-25, with 3:57 left on the clock.
  • Gannon closed the quarter on an 11-0 run, taking a 36-25 lead into the locker room. Neighbors recorded five points, while Nicole LaCava chipped in with four points in the run.
  • The two teams exchanged points in the opening minutes of the third quarter, but Gannon remained in control.
  • IUP pulled within five of Gannon at the 3:40 mark, 47-42, but Neighbors hit a three-pointer and pushed the Lady Knights ahead.
  • Elissa Ellerbrock would lay the ball into the net with 44 seconds remaining in the quarter to give Gannon a 54-46 lead.
  • Gannon opened the fourth quarter going on a 7-1 run, taking a 61-47 lead with 7:58 left in the game, the run included an opening three-pointer from McKenna Shives and back-to-back lay-ups from Brianna Brennan.
  • The Crimson Hawks responded with their own 5-0 run, before Neighbors added another three-pointer to her growing stat line, to give Gannon a 64-52 lead with 5:30 left in the fourth quarter.
  • Gannon took their biggest lead of the game with 1:02 remaining in the game, before the final 81-66 score.

BEYOND THE BOX:
  • Neighbors recorded a game and career-high 31 points in the victory, while Shives chipped in with 15 points and five assists and Brennan recorded 10 points.
  • Neighbors went 5-of-5 from the free throw line, 11-18 from the field goal and went 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.
  • Senior Jennie Thies recorded her fifth consecutive double-digit rebounding game with 10 rebounds.
  • Overall, Gannon shot 52.5 percent (31-59) from field goal range, 42.1 percent (8-19) from beyond the arc and was 11-of-15 (73.3 percent) from the free throw line.
  • The Lady Knights scored 42 points in the paint, and 17 second chance points, while their bench added15 points.
  • IUP was led by Zhane Brooks with a team-high 18 points and four rebounds, while Leslie Stapleton chipped in with 16 points.
  • The Crimson Hawks shot 49.9 percent (25-51) from field goal range, was 9-of-17 (52.9 percent) from the free throw line and was 38.9 percent (7-18) from three point range.
