GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • IUP's Anthony Glover opened the scoring 43 seconds after the tip with a three-pointer and the visiting Crimson Hawks held the lead the rest of the way.
  • Leading 18-15, IUP ripped off a 10-1 run to produce a double-digit advantage. Brandon Spain and Brandon Norfleet had five points each during the blitz. Spain's lay-up with 8:52 remaining gave the visitors a 28-16 lead.
  • A lay-up by Daddy Ugbede followed by a Norfleet triple later in the half gave the Crimson Hawks their biggest lead of the opening 20 minutes at 37-20 with 4:32 showing on the clock.
  • Ugbede's 17th point of the first half on a lay-up at the buzzer pushed IUP into the break with a 43-26 advantage.
  • Gannon slowly chipped away at the deficit during the second half. After IUP assumed its biggest lead of the evening at 47-28, the Golden Knights generated a 10-2 run. Senior Tony Boykins (Kalamazoo, Mich./Loy Norrix) began the stretch with an old-fashion three-point play.
  • Junior Matthew Dogan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) followed an IUP jumper with a three-pointer, before freshman Cyril Clark (Tema, Ghana Nandom) hit two free throws and senior Jean Yves Toupane (Dakar, Senegal/Lee (Maine) Academy) converted a lay-up to pull within 49-38 at the 15:38 mark.
  • Gannon fell behind 54-38, but rallied again with a 9-2 run. Boykins tallied five of those points, including another basket while being fouled that clipped the IUP lead to 56-47 with 10:41 to play.
  • However, Indiana (Pa.) responded with a six consecutive points and Gannon was unable to cut the deficit into single digits again.

GAME NOTES
  • Tuesday's contest was a rematch of last year's PSAC Championship Game won by the Golden Knights 69-66 on Girbran Smith's three-pointer with two seconds remaining.
  • Toupane led the Gannon scoring attack with 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
  • Dogan was the only other Golden Knight in double digits with 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting.
  • Gannon shot 42.6 percent (23-54) from the field, 30 percent (3-10) from three-point range and 80 percent (12-15) from the free throw line.
  • Norfleet topped all scorers on both sides with 26 points, six assists and three rebounds. He finished 10-of-16 from the field and 4-of-7 from long range.
  • Ugbede and Anthony Glover added 20 and 12 points, respectively.
  • Indiana (Pa.) shot 56 percent (28-50) from the floor, including a 52.4-percent clip (11-21) during the second half when Gannon produced a 35-29 scoring advantage.
  • The Crimson Hawks shot 47.4 percent (9-19) from behind the arc and 63.6 percent (7-11) from the charity stripe.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon had won five of its last six games against IUP prior to Tuesday's contest.
  • Indiana (Pa.) snapped a three-game losing streak at the Hammermill Center, winning for the first time since a 72-65 victory on December 8, 2012.
  • Gannon has dropped consecutive home games for the first time since losing both games of the 2014 Gary Miller Classic. The Golden Knights suffered back-to-back home losses for only the 12th time since the 1998-99 campaign.
  • Toupane reached double digits in points for the fifth consecutive gamewhile playing all 40 minutes.
  • Gannon led the country in scoring defense last season, but IUP was the second opponent in six games to shoot 56 percent or better. The Crimson Hawks are also the second team to hit nine three-pointers against the Golden Knights.
  • Head coach John T. Reilly's club committed 10 turnovers, representing the team's fewest this season.
  • Gannon is 2-4 after six games for the second consecutive season. Last year's squad rebounded to win 23 games and the PSAC Championship.
