Series Notes: Gannon has won 16 consecutive games against Clarion and leads the all-time series 33-14. The Lady Knights have won seven straight games at Waldo S. Tipp Gymnasium where they own a 13-7 record. The current win streak includes home and away season sweeps in the last seven seasons.

LAST PLAY:
Gannon opened the 2015-16 season with back-to-back victories at the Carol Eckman Memorial Tournament. Senior Jennie Thies averaged 18 points, 10 rebounds and was 8-16 from the field through the two games. After recording two double-doubles through three seasons, she opened this season with back-to-back double-doubles over the weekend.

EXTRA EXTRA:
  • Two games into the season, the Lady Knights have three players averaging more than 10 points a contest. Leading the way, is Thies (18.0 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks and 20-23 FT %) and senior Morgan Neighbors who averages 15 points, 4.5 rebounds and is 7-8 from the free throw line through the two games.
  • The Lady Knights moved up in the Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) Atlantic Region Media poll that was released on Monday morning, jumping from the fourth spot to second.
  • Gannon was tabbed to finish tied for second place in the PSAC Western Division according to the league's preseason coaches' poll.
  • The Lady Knights will need to find new leaders this year following the graduation of their top scorers. The squad only returns three starters and eight letterwinners from the squad that went 21-8 and saw the Atlantic Regional quarterfinals.
  • Gannon enter the 2015-16 season among all NCAA Division II programs in all-time winning percentage, beginning with a 672-419 record in 41 seasons. More recently Gannon was ranked 16th  among Division II programs with a .757 winning percentage (115-37) in the last five years.
  • Gannon was also tabbed to finish tied for second place in the PSAC Western Division according to the league's preseason coaches' poll.
  • Head coach Jim Brunelli enters his third season, he has guided the Lady Knights to a 49-12 record and two NCAA Tournament appearances in his first two years at the helm.
 
CLARION HEADLINES:
  • Clarion opened its regular season last weekend with two losses at the West Virginia State Tournament.
  • After an 80-69 loss to host West Virginia State, the Golden Eagles fell 78-65 against University of Charleston.
  • Clarion was picked ninth in the PSAC West according to the league's preseason coaches poll.

NEXT TIMEOUT:
  • Gannon opens its home schedule this weekend with a pair of PSAC crossover contests at the Hammermill.
  • The Lady Knights host Millersville on Saturday, November 21 and Shippensburg on Sunday November 22.
