The Short Story: The Gannon women's basketball closed the Carol Eckman Memorial Tournament going 2-0, after defeating Lincoln, 74-62, Sunday afternoon at the Hollinger Field House.

Click HereHOW IT HAPPENED:- Lincoln took an 8-6 lead, before Gannon went on an 8-0 run to lead,14-8, with 3:15 left in the first quarter.
- The Lions responded with a 9-2 run to take back the lead, 17-16, at the conclusion of the first quarter.
- Jennie Thies (Lakewood, N.Y./Southwestern) opened the second quarter with a jumper, only to have the Lions respond 10 seconds later to regain the lead, 19-18.
- Gannon took a nine point lead off back-to-back three-pointers from Morgan Neighbors (Westerville, Ohio/Westerville South), as Gannon lead Lincoln 35-25 going into halftime.
- Lincoln began to chip away at Gannon's lead with a layup from Mieana Gaines with 7:56 left in the third quarter (35-31).
- Gannon built upon their lead with another three-ball from Neighbors 3:13 left on the clock to lead 49-40.
- The Lions closed the quarter with a 3-0 run to only trail Gannon by five, 52-47.
- Lincoln continued their run, cutting Gannon's lead to three, with a layup from Amani Clark with 8:48 remaining in the game, 52-49.
- Gannon went up again by six, 56-50, with a layup from Lanise Saunders (Pittsburgh, Pa./Taylor Allerdice), before the Lions again pulled within three of the Lady Knights, 56-53 with a layup from Teira Pendleton with 6:22 left on the clock.
- Lincoln closed in on Gannon with 4:09 left, with a jumper from Monique Cheek (61-60).
- Gannon closed the game on a 12-0 run to secure the victory, 74-62.
GAME NOTES:- Gannon is currently receiving votes in the USA Today Sports Division II Preseason Top 25 Coaches' Poll released earlier this month.Â
- The team is also ranked fourth according to the Division II Sports Information Directors of America (D2SIDA) Atlantic Region Media poll that was released earlier this week.
- Gannon was selected to finish second in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division.
- Thies recorded her second double-double of the season, with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
- Neighbors tallied 17 points and five rebounds, while Shives chipped in with 13 points.
- Gannon shot 77.8 percent (21-27) from the free throw line, 35.8 percent (24-67) from the field.
- Lincoln was led by Amani Clark with 22 points, and Monique Cheek with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
- The Lions shot 51.0 percent (26-51) from the field and went 7-12 from the free throw line (58.3 percent).
- Gannon's big advantage came with 23 points off turnovers.
