GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon out-shot Shippensburg 9-3 during the first 45 minutes, but the Raiders tallied the only goal.
  • The Lady Knights opened the contest with four straight shots, before Shippensburg got behind the defense. However, Casey Rightmyer's shot on the breakaway sailed wide.
  • Shippensburg got a second breakaway in the 27th minute and didn't get turned away this time. Rightmyer drew the goalkeeper out after taking a pass from Ashley Weaver, before scoring into the upper left corner for a 1-0 lead.
  • Gannon began to turn the tide midway through the second half. The Lady Knights were granted a free kick after a Shippensburg foul. Senior Mani Brueckner (Valencia, Pa./Mars Area) responded by converting a shot from just outside the box on the left side to tie the match at one in the 72nd minute.
  • The visitors kept the pressure on, firing off eight consecutive shots until senior Kaitlyn Kissell (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) scored the game-winner. She pushed Gannon ahead with 4:18 remaining on a shot that found the lower, left corner of the net from 20 yards out.
  • Shippensburg had a pair of chances to tie the contest during the final minute. Kat Hartner's shot with 52 seconds left just missed the far post and Brianna Brancato's attempt with 19 seconds remaining was stopped by junior Shannon Differ (Brampton, Ontario/Notre Dame C.S.S.).
