SATURDAY STORYLINES
  • Gannon rides a three-game win streak into Saturday's contest against California (Pa.). The Golden Knights clinched their third consecutive winning season last week with a 43-28 victory at Seton Hill. The program's record is four straight winning seasons from 1992-95.
  • Head coach Brad Rzyczycki's club is looking for its first-ever victory against California (Pa.) on the field. After six consecutive wins by the Vulcans in the all-time series, the Golden Knights received a forfeit victory from Cal last season.
  • Gannon is tabbed eighth in the initial NCAA Division II Super Region One rankings released this week. It represented the Golden Knights' first-ever appearance in the NCAA regional rankings.
  • Redshirt senior Joshua Wiechelt needs eight tackles to reach the 200-tackle plateau for his career.
  • A Gannon win would clinch back-to-back seasons with at least seven victories for the first time in program history.
  • Redshirt senior Jesstin Hamm ranks second all-time at Gannon with 2,215 career receiving yards. He needs 111 yards to break the school record held by Justin Caliste (2011-14).
  • Junior Mike Zanders was named PSAC Western Division Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks after intercepting two passes last week at Seton Hill. He now has nine career interceptions and will move into Gannon's all-time top five with his next pick.
  • California (Pa.) is coming off a 42-28 upset victory against then-No. 25 Clarion last Saturday during homecoming weekend.
  • Cal senior quarterback James Harris enters the weekend ranked fourth all-time in school history with 6,741 passing yards and needs just 38 yards to eclipse Kevin Russell (1982-84) for third place. Harris, who has posted a 17-7 overall record (.708) as a starter, also is four touchdown passes shy of becoming the fifth quarterback in school history with 50 career touchdown passes.

UP NEXT
  • Gannon begins a two-game road swing that concludes the regular season Saturday, November 7 at Indiana (Pa.).
  • Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
  • The Golden Knights trail the Crimson Hawks by one game in the PSAC Western Division.
  • The game will also have major NCAA Tournament ramifications as Gannon sits eighth and IUP is ninth in the initial NCAA Super Region One rankings released this week.
  • Following the Indiana (Pa.) contest, Gannon concludes the regular season Saturday, November 14.
  • The Golden Knights are scheduled to play at East Stroudsburg during the final weekend with a 12:05 p.m. kickoff, but the opponent could change if either team wins their division and plays in the PSAC title game.
