GAMEDAY MEDIA CENTER
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon controlled the match in terms of scoring attempts, including a 7-0 edge in shots during the first half.
  • However, the Lady Knights were unable to dent the scoring column as four shots were off target and Cal goalkeeper Meghan Jayes made three saves.
  • The second half was played on more even terms. Cal finally managed its first shot 2:54 into the second half on a header that was stopped by junior Shannon Differ (Brampton, Ontario/Notre Dame C.S.S.).
  • Gannon finally broke through in the 78th minute. Brueckner took a pass from senior Amanda Gallant (Brampton, Ontario/Cardinal Leger SS) and scored from close range into the bottom right side of the net with 12:05 remaining.
  • The Lady Knights allowed only one shot the rest of the way, but Francesca Scenna's attempt with 3:26 left was blocked.

GAME NOTES
  • Gannon has been ranked No. 1 in the last four National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Top 25 Polls, representing its first No. 1 ranking in the program's 29-year history. The Lady Knights have been tabbed No. 1 in the last seven NSCAA Atlantic regional rankings, as well as the initial NCAA Division II Atlantic regional rankings released last Wednesday.
  • The Lady Knights out-shot the Vulcans 11-2 while Cal held a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
  • The home squad was whistled for 16 fouls compared to Gannon's six, including a 10-1 difference during the first half.
  • Differ needed only one save to remain undefeated this season in goal.
  • Brueckner's game-winner was her fifth of the season and 15th of her career.
  • Gannon snapped a six-match losing streak at California (Pa.), winning on the Vulcans' home turf for the first time since 1998.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Gannon remained the only program at any level of the NCAA without a loss or tie.
  • The Lady Knights are off to a 17-0 start for the first time ever, becoming only the third Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) team to ever win 17 consecutive matches.
  • Gannon has reached double digits in victories during three of the last four seasons.
  • The Lady Knights continue to add to their school record for victories in a season, surpassing the previous mark set by the 2012 team that finished 13-4-2.
  • Gannon has allowed one goal or less during all 17 matches.
  • The Lady Knights have allowed only one goal in the last 577 minutes, spanning seven matches.

  • The Lady Knights have won 17 straight matches, shattering the program's previous record of six in a row accomplished in 1998 and 1999.
  • Brueckner scored a goal for the third consecutive match. She has found the back of the net during 12 of the 17 contests this season and recorded a point during 15 different matches.
