The Short Story:  The Clarion women's volleyball team hit .352 while Gannon committed 20 attack errors as the Golden Eagles swept the Lady Knights in straight sets Saturday afternoon in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division match at the Hammermill Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The first set went back and forth with both teams taking the lead only for the other to rally and tie the match.
  • Gannon took a 16-15 lead, before Clarion recorded three consecutive points taking an 18-16 lead.
  • The Golden Eagles closed out the first set going on a 7-4 run with their final point coming off a kill from Mackenzie Biggs.
  • Trailing 12-4 in the second set, Gannon called a timeout in hopes to slow the Golden Eagles momentum down. Morgan Walters (Girard, Ohio/Girard) recorded a kill, but an attack error from the Lady Knights gave the ball back to Clarion.
  • Clarion extended their lead 15-6, before Gannon tallied three points.
  • The Golden Eagles recorded three more points, the points came from a service error, bad set and an attack error from Gannon.
  • Clarion concluded the second set, 25-13, tallying three points off two attack errors from the Lady Knights.
  • Gannon took a 4-2 lead in the third set, before Clarion went on a 4-1 run taking a 6-5 lead.
  •  The Lady Knights tied the set 6-6 off a Kelsey Ansec (Solon, Ohio/Solon) kill, but Clarion was able to regain the lead, 10-6, as Gannon recorded four errors.
  • Gannon pulled within two of Clarion, 12-10 with a kill by Lauren Beck (Chardon, Ohio/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) but a service error from Hannah Kren and back-to-back kills pushed Clarion ahead 15-10.
  •  The Golden Eagles recorded four consecutive points leading 21-14, before Gannon went on a 4-2 run trailing 23-18.
  •  Clarion closed out the set with two consecutive points, as they swept Gannon in straight sets.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Hannah Kren (Waukesha, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran)  is now tied for 10th place for Gannon's all-time kills with 1,145 kills.
  • Lynne Hibbard (West Barnstable, Mass./Barnstable) pulled within one of Gannon's all-time top10, finishing the match with 243 block assists.
  • Gannon dropped to 9-3 at home, falling at the 'Mill in back-to-back matches.
