HOW IT HAPPENED
  • For the second consecutive match, Gannon pounced on its opponent early and often. The Lady Knights scored four times within a 22-minute span to assume control.
  • Senior Mani Brueckner (Valencia, Pa./Mars Area) put Gannon on the board in the 21st minute. After being taken down at the top of the box on the left side, she converted a penalty kick for a 1-0 lead.
  • In the 32nd minute, Brueckner struck again. She took a pass from senior Sammy Valloud (Erie, Pa./McDowell) and placed a perfect shot from 30 yards out on the left side into the upper right corner.
  • The Gannon lead ballooned to 3-0 in the 40th minute after junior Olivia Augustyniak (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) lobbed another perfect shot over the goalkeeper from 50 yards out on a free kick.
  • Senior Michelle Genetin (Navarre, Ohio/Perry) completed the barrage with 2:55 remaining in the first half, heading a crossing pass from sophomore Hannah Manczka (Fairview, Pa./McDowell) inside the left post for a 4-0 advantage.
  • Neither team was able to generate much offense during a scoreless second half, before Gannon celebrated a 4-0 victory.
