THE BASICSÂ
- Slippery Rock opened the match with a 25-22 victory, which saw nine ties and four lead changes.
- Gannon took a 4-2 lead in the first set, before the Rock responded with five consecutive points taking an 11-8 lead.
- The Lady Knights responded with a 4-0 run of their own, in which senior Morgan Walters (Girard, Ohio/Girard) recorded a service ace and saw back-to-back kills from junior Hannah Kren (Waukesha, Wis./Wisconsin Lutheran) to tie the set at 15 all.
- Slippery Rock closed the set out going on a 5-2 run and getting 25-22 victory.
- The Lady Knights responded in the second set opening it with a 6-1 lead.
- The Rock pulled within two of Gannon, 8-6, but that would be as close as they would get to Gannon as the Lady Knights closed out the set 25-17.
- Trailing Slippery Rock 5-2 in the third set, Gannon called a timeout and come back from the break going on an 8-1 run taking the lead from the Rock 10-6.
- The Rock tallied eight consecutive points to lead 23-17 as both teams would exchange points in the finale four points, and Slippery Rock went on for the 25-19 set victory.
- In a back and forth fourth set, that saw eight ties and two lead changes, Gannon would take a 12-10 lead and maintained control despite small runs made by Slippery Rock.
- Gannon closed the fourth set with a kill by senior Lynne Hibbard (West Barnstable, Mass./Barnstable) and Kren to force the fifth set.
- Trailing 4-2 in the fifth set, Gannon would record six consecutive points taking an 8-4 lead and would hold on for the 15-11 set and overall match victory.
- Kren recorded a team and season-high 29 kills and 31.5 points.
- Walters also recorded a season-high 54 assists.
