SATURDAY STORYLINES
  • Saturday presents a unique match-up as many preseason polls had both programs entering this game with 4-0 records. However, both teams were upset in their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division opener last week.
  • Redshirt senior quarterback Liam Nadler set an NCAA Division II record last week for most consecutive passes without an interception. His streak of 308 passes without an interception has spanned nine games. Nadler's last interception came on the third play of the fourth quarter October 4, 2014 at Slippery Rock. The previous NCAA Division II record was 280 set by New Haven's Jesse Showerda during a 10-game stretch from September 7, 1996 to November 16, 1996.
  • Gannon hopes to buck a trend of four consecutive Homecoming Weekend losses to Bloomsburg, California (Pa.), Edinboro and Mercyhurst. The program's last Homecoming victory was a 45-17 decision against Indiana (Pa.) in 2010.
  • Nadler is expected to break Gannon's all-time record for total offense Saturday afternoon. He enters the Slippery Rock game with 10,345 yards of total offense and needs 68 more to break Darmel Whitfield's (2001-04) school record (10,412). Whitfield and Nadler have put up total offense numbers like no other players in program history as the third-highest total in school history is 5,771 career yards.
  • Redshirt senior Jesstin Hamm continues to lead NCAA Division II in receiving touchdowns with nine. He has caught a touchdown pass in 10 consecutive games dating back to last season.
  • Gannon leads the PSAC in eight individual categories - Total Tackles Per Game (Joshua Wiechelt - 13.8), Receiving Touchdowns (Hamm - 9), Fumbles Recovered (Trenton Donald - 2), Kickoff Return Average (Brandon Mansell - 33.2), Points Per Game (Hamm - 14.0), Points Responsible For Per Game (Nadler - 23.5), Passing Touchdowns (Nadler - 14) and Rushing Yards Per Carry (Brock Jones - 7.66).
  • Slippery Rock has been nationally-ranked all season until being listed among others receiving votes in this week's poll.
  • Since Gannon and Mercyhurst joined the PSAC, Slippery Rock has not won a road game at either facility. The only road win Slippery Rock has at Gannon came in 2002 before the Golden Knights joined the PSAC.
  • After suffering an injury three weeks ago during a victory against East Stroudsburg, Slippery Rock running back Shamar Greene sat out the last two games. Greene, who rushed for 246 yards through the first two games of the year, is listed as probable to return to the lineup this week.

UP NEXT
  • Gannon returns to the road Saturday, October 10 but it will be a short trek across the City of Erie to Mercyhurst.
  • Game time is scheduled for 12 noon.
  • It represents Gannon's first road contest since September 19.
  • The rivalry game will be played in front of a national television audience and can be seen live locally on the CW.
  • Following the contest at Mercyhurst, Gannon returns home to host another rival in Edinboro on Thursday, October 15.
  • Game time is scheduled for 6 p.m.
  • The Gannon-Edinboro match-up is the only night game of the season.
