The Short Story: The Gannon men's swimming team rallied for a 104-101 victory over Canisius Saturday afternoon. Due to travel issues caused by wintry weather, each team competed in their respective pool resulting in a virtual meet. Trailing the Golden Griffins, 95-93, the Golden Knights secured the win with a first-place finish in the day's last event of the 400-yard freestyle relay. The victory handed six seniors a win on Senior Day at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion Pool. The Golden Knights collected six top-finishes on the day. GU was led by junior Denys Fedorchenko (Zaporizhia, Ukraine/Zaporizkiy Collegium #83), who placed first in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.

Back Story:
- The format and time of the dual was changed to accommodate travel issues due to the wintry weather that struck the Western New York region. The change was in response to multiple factors including the shutdown of the New York State Thruway from Ripley, Pa. to Hamburg, N.Y.
- This marks the second time Gannon has competed virtually against an opponent in the last five years. The last time came against SUNY Fredonia Dec. 11, 2009.
- The final home dual of the regular season marked Senior Day for 11 student-athletes including six Golden Knights and five Lady Knights.
 
Senior Day:
- The Senior Day celebration featured six Golden Knights. In addition, five Lady Knights were honored prior to the action.
- The list included Logan Bissell (Yorktown, Va. / York), Adam Chrzanowski (Erie, Pa. / Cathedral Prep), Terrance Coughran (Atwater, Calif. / Atwater), Michael Decsey (Mississauga, Ontario / Erindale), Jon Hoobler (Franklin, Pa. / Rocky Grove) and Gary Newcamp (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Hills).
 
Top-Finishes:
- The Golden Knights posted 17 combined Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)-qualifying times.
- Comprised of three seniors, the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Coughran, Bissell, Fedorchenko and Chrzanowski clinched the victory for the Golden Knights with its first-place finish (3:16.76).
- Fedorchenko earned two top-finishes, meeting PSAC-qualifying times in each race. The junior took first in the 50-yard freestyle (21.70) and 100-yard backstroke (53.72).
- Three other Golden Knights earned first place in their respective events with conference-qualifying times. Chrzanowski placed first in the 500-yard freestyle (4:55.73), Coughran in the 100-yard freestyle (49.26) and freshman Noah Donovan (Ellwood City, Pa./Laurel) in the 200-yard IM (2:03.37).
- The Golden Knights snapped a four-game skid against the Golden Griffins in the all-time series. The Maroon and Gold earned their first win over the Golden Griffins since Nov. 1, 2008, when GU posted a 139-121 win.
