HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Gannon dominated the first half en route to a 3-0 halftime lead. Redshirt junior Gavin Linsell (Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edward VII) opened the scoring in the 19th minute. After an ESU foul just outside the box, Linsell drilled a direct kick into the upper left corner of the net from 25 yards out.
  • Linsell began the second scoring play in the 33rd minute by taking a corner kick. After a scramble in a crowded box, redshirt sophomore Connor Pletz  (North East, Pa./Cathedral Prep) knocked the ball into the net for a 2-0 lead.
  • Redshirt sophomore Nick Stephenson (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) extended the lead to 3-0 with his first goal of the season 3:50 later. He stole a reckless pass in front of the goal, before immediately converting into the left side of the net.
  • East Stroudsburg finally got on the board 2:41 into the second half on Casey Albino's first goal of the season. He was able to get by his defender on the right side, dribbled in from 25 yards out and scored his first goal of the season into the lower left side.
  • Gannon completed the scoring with senior Robbie Bennett's (Durban, South Africa/St. Benedict School) third goal of the season in the 82nd minute. Stephenson started the play on the right side with a nice crossing pass that was redirected into the net by Bennett.
