  • Series Notes: Gannon has won both games against Cheyney in the all-times series, producing a 70-27 scoring edge during those match-ups. The two programs last met in 2009 when the Golden Knights earned a 30-9 victory at Gannon University Field. Gannon posted a 40-18 win at Cheyney in the first-ever meeting in 2008. The Golden Knights have gained 716 yards during the two all-time meetings.

SATURDAY STORYLINES
  • Gannon improved to 8-3 during its last 11 seasons openers with a 23-7 victory against Southern Connecticut State last Saturday. The Golden Knights led 23-0, before the Owls' touchdown with 1:41 left in regulation spoiled the shutout bid.
  • Head coach Brad Rzyczycki's club was one of 13 NCAA Division II programs to intercept at least three passes during the first week. Redshirt senior Luke Rankie and redshirt freshman Nico Mendieta picked off their first career passes while junior Matt Astorino recorded the team's third interception.
  • Junior Brock Jones had the second-best rushing day in the PSAC last week, piling up a career-high 150 yards. Only Slippery Rock's Shamar Greene had more with 195 yards.

UP NEXT
  • Gannon returns home Saturday, September 20 for a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover contest against Kutztown. Game time is scheduled for 12 noon. All crossover games will count in the PSAC standings this season. Kutztown escaped Gannon University Field 27-24 during the only meeting all-time between the programs in the 2010 regular-season finale.
