The Short Story: The No. 17 Gannon women's soccer team was edged by the host Bloomsburg Huskies Wednesday evening at Steph Pettit Stadium in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) action. The Lady Knights were handed their first loss of the season after the Huskies took a 1-0 lead in the 26th minute of the match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bloomsburg managed to ride the only goal in the 26th minute of action to a 1-0 victory. The Huskies' Ashley Sanchez dropped the ball to Maureen Leis in front of the net, leaving Jenna Fisher wide open to tap the shot in for her first tally of the season.
- With many opportunities to tie the match at one each, Gannon junior Kaitlyn Kissell (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) fired a wide-open shot just high from the top of the box off a cross by junior Mani Brueckner (Valencia, Pa./Mars Area) in the 77th minute.
- The Lady Knights also had a chance just before the half with three minutes left,as the Huskies' goalkeeper Megan Deak was pulled out of position on a loose ball to the far left-wing. Receiving a feed on the rush, Brueckner's shot was headed away by BU defender Taylor Gerstenfield to maintain her team's lead.
- In the 47th minute, Brueckner managed to maneuver her way around a Huskies' defender to the front of the net. The junior was unable to control the shot as it rolled just wide to the right.

GAME NOTES
- Sophomore goalkeeper Shannon Differ (Brampton, Ontario / Notre Dame C.S.S.) registered six saves in the loss. Deak pulled in four saves for the Huskies with the team recording a save as well to hold onto the lead.
- The Lady Knights held an 11-8 shot advantage, but the Huskies edged the Lady Knights in shots on goal, 7-5.
- Junior Sammy Valloud (Erie, Pa./McDowell) led the Lady Knights with three shots, all on goal. The Huskies' Fisher scored on one of her team-best three shots on net.
