First-Half Goals Push No. 24 Slippery Rock Past Gannon Women’s Soccer, 3-0

The Short Story: The Gannon women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 loss to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) host and 24th nationally-ranked Slippery Rock Wednesday afternoon at James W. Egli Soccer Field. The Rock scored three unanswered goals in the first half, as the Lady Knights were held scoreless in the match.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Rock's Cailtin Binder tallied the first goal on a misplayed pass, leaving Binder with an open net to tap the shot in for a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. Tess Keely assisted on the goal.
- Off one of their six corner-kick attempts, The Rock extended their lead to 2-0. Nicole Kruger managed to drop the ball inside the box, as Ali Brosky scored her fourth goal of the season.
- With only 18 seconds left in the first half, Allison Harbart tallied her first of the season. On an unassisted effort, Harbart deflected the shot in for a Slippery Rock 3-0 lead and eventual win.
 
GAME NOTES
- Sophomore Shannon Differ (Brampton, Ontario / Notre Dame C.S.S.) and freshman Danitza Indacochea (Maple, Ontario / St. Joan of Arc) each recorded time in goal for the Lady Knights. Differ allowed two goals on three shots in 30 minutes, collecting one save. In her second appearance this season, Indacochea surrendered one goal and pulled in five saves for a career game-high in 60 minutes. The Rock's Annabelle Hegeman finished with five saves.
- The Rock held a 14-9 shot advantage over the visiting Lady Knights. In shots on goal, The Rock managed to post a 9-5 edge.  
- Sophomore Bethany Perri (Valencia, Pa. / Mars Area) and junior Sammy Valloud (Erie, Pa. / McDowell) each registered two shots to lead the Lady Knights' offense.
 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Lady Knights move to 9-10 in the all-time series against Slippery Rock.
- Entering the match, the Lady Knights were on a three-game unbeaten streak against The Rock. Last season, the Lady Knights captured wins over The Rock in the regular season, 2-1, and eliminated second-seed and defending conference champion Slippery Rock from the PSAC Tournament, 1-0.
- The Rock were ranked 24th in the latest NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II National Rankings. The Rock currently hold the third spot in the NSCAA Atlantic Region rankings.

Gannon returns to action Oct. 11, when the team hosts California (Pa.) at 5 p.m. on Homecoming Weekend. The Lady Knights will also celebrate Senior Day for Justine Rodrigues (Georgetown, Ontario / Georgetown District) and Michelle Genetin (Navarre, Ohio / Perry).
